This first composed series done by Faulkner, reflects on the unexpected, explosive, loving and needed change in relationship between her and her mother. What is so vividly remembered as a raw validation of the kind of love shared between the two today. With almost a year in the making, and a grueling second year of execution and thought, a moment to stop and rebalance was needed. To ponder on how fixated and controlling I had become on what I thought about myself, what others would think of me, what I thought art was supposed to be. Instead I forced myself to let go of fear, focus on finding intuition, satisfying myself, and learn the benefits of exploring other mediums. With the encouragement from friends, and my mother as well, landed myself here.
This is dedicated to my mother. You did the best with what you had and knew, you never stopped fighting for me, and loved me the only way you knew how. I’m proud of you and who you’re working to become. I love you.
